Details: The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, officiated at the opening ceremony of SNLU cum gala dinner to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. Representatives of the Shaanxi Province, Xi’an city and other local municipal government departments and institutions, as well as Hong Kong people living and working in Shaanxi , representatives of Hong Kong enterprises and Hong Kong students are invited to participate in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong to the motherland.
Details: To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR, CDETO invites the “Yat Po Singers” to perform in Xi’an. “Yat Po Singers” is the first professional a cappella choral theatre company in Hong Kong focusing on developing original theatrical works. It was founded by three Co-Artistic Directors: composer Ng Cheuk Yin, choral director Patrick Chiu and stage director/designer Yuri Ng; and Executive Director (Honorary), Kathleen Ng. The company’s artistic mission is to bring to the audience refreshing and relaxing music experience.
Details: To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR, CDETO and Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China – Chengdu co-organised this competition. Representatives from enterprises were invited to participate in a treasure hunt competition for Hong Kong elements so as to understand the improvements brought by Hong Kong in Chengdu. 20A videos, Brand Hong Kong videos and videos on Hong Kong tourism were broadcasted at the CBD of Chengdu to promote the achievements of Hong Kong.
Details: To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the return of Hong Kong to its Motherland, CDETO will organise various seminars and gatherings in tertiary institutions in the Mainland with a view to enhancing the Mainland youngsters’ understanding of the trade, economic and cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and the Mainland and fostering exchanges between students from both sides.
Details: To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR and enhance the cultural exchange between the Mainland and Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, a leader in Chinese ethnic music and a cultural ambassador of Hong Kong, is invited to stage a concert tour in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Wuhan, Chengdu and Shenyang. National Class One Conductor, Yan Huichang, will lead the distinguished musicians of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra to play wonderful classical pieces in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the return of Hong Kong to its Motherland.

Details: On the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR, this Programme marks the further linkage and cooperation with the Mainland. It provides an opportunity for 15 youth each from Hong Kong and Guangdong to undergo a six-week internship in Wolong National Nature Reserve, Sichuan. Under the coaching of experts therein, they will have hands-on experience as field researchers for wildlife conservation, eco-tour guides, museum narrators and eco-tourism researchers, etc. Through providing this unique experience, the Programme aims to enhance participants’ knowledge on panda and environmental conservation, sustainable development and eco-tourism, and to develop their career interest in these areas.

Details: To enhance the cultural exchange between Sichuan and Hong Kong, and commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR, the Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble is invited to participate in the Chengdu International Sister Cities Youth Music Festival (“the Festival”). The Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble endeavors to preserve, inherit and develop Chinese music culture in Hong Kong. “Voices of Hong Kong: Concert by Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble” will be staged during the Festival to show the audience the succession and development of traditional and modern Chinese chamber music in Hong Kong.

Details: The Hong Kong Repertory Theatre presents “The Last Supper” to Chengdu, Sichuan. The play is a black comedy depicting the life of the grass root in Hong Kong. Following two sold-out Hong Kong performances in 2011, The Last Supper went on tour to Guangzhou Opera House in 2012, then at the Youth Theatre Festival for Mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong in 2013, all to extremely enthusiastic acclaims. It was named top 10 and top 6 productions of 2013 respectively by TimeOut (Beijing) and The Beijing News.

Cellist Trey Lee is the first Asian winner of the prestigious International Antonio Janigro Cello Competition. He has worked with esteemed conductors, composers and orchestras worldwide and appears often at major venues and festivals around the world.

Details: Hong Kong renowned pianist, Dr.Cheng Wai will perform in Chengdu as a soloist. She is a Steinway artist and the fifth generation descendant of Beethoven. In recognition of Cheng Wai’s outstanding achievements and contribution, she was awarded “Top Ten Outstanding Young People” in 2009.
